Birnam Arts is looking for a talented, flexible and enthusiastic Assistant & Relief Chef/Cook to join our busy café and hospitality team.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver an evolving food and hospitality offer within one of Perthshire’s leading cultural and community venues. As we introduce new menus, expand our evening offer, and grow our weddings, conferences and live events business, we are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced and creative environment.
The role will support our Chef and wider operations team in delivering high-quality café food, baking, event catering and hospitality experiences across a seven-day operation.
About the Role
You will:
- Support the preparation and delivery of café food and seasonal menu items
- Assist with the rollout of new food offerings and evening service
- Help deliver catering for weddings, conferences, private functions and live events
- Provide relief cover for the kitchen team during holidays and leave periods
- Support day-to-day kitchen operations and maintain high standards of food hygiene and presentation
- Work collaboratively with front of house and events teams to deliver excellent customer experiences
The role requires flexibility, including regular weekend and evening working depending on events and business needs.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working in a café, bakery or hospitality kitchen environment
- Has strong baking and patisserie skills and enjoys producing high-quality cakes, traybakes and desserts
- Is confident working in a busy service environment
- Can work independently and take responsibility when required
- Is flexible, reliable and enjoys being part of a small team
- Has a passion for good food, hospitality and customer experience
- Is comfortable supporting both café service and event catering
