Full job description

Role Purpose

The Fundraising & Partnerships Officer will play an important role in helping to secure income to support the charity’s work rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing British wildlife.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, early-career candidates, or individuals from a range of backgrounds looking to start or develop a career in the charity sector.

We are looking for someone with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, who is curious, proactive, and motivated to make a difference.

You may not have worked in fundraising before, we are open to candidates with strong transferable skills, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for our cause. We will provide support and development to help you build your skills in fundraising, grant writing, and partnership development.

In this role, you will research funding opportunities, write compelling applications, and help build positive relationships with funders and partners. You will also communicate confidently with a wide range of people, both in writing and in person, contributing to the charity’s growth and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Research and identify funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, corporate partners, and statutory sources.
Write compelling, tailored grant applications and funding proposals that clearly communicate the charity’s mission, projects, and impact.
Develop and maintain a structured pipeline of funding opportunities, tracking deadlines, progress, and outcomes.
Contribute to achieving agreed income targets and KPIs, such as applications submitted, success rates, and funds secured.
Ensure all reporting requirements are met, providing timely, professional and high-quality updates to funders.
Support the development and nurturing of relationships with funders and partners, ensuring excellent communication and stewardship.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to gather data, case studies, and insights to strengthen applications and reports.
Monitor trends in the funding landscape and proactively identify new opportunities for growth.
Maintain accurate records of applications, outcomes, and income raised using organisational systems.
Contribute to wider fundraising and communications activity where required, including campaigns, events, and supporter engagement.

Person Specification

Essential

Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly, persuasively, and accurately.
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with confidence engaging with a wide range of people in person, on the phone, and in writing.
Ability to build positive, professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including funders, partners, and colleagues.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
IT skills – Microsoft Office and browser-based databases
Strong research and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively as part of a small, collaborative team.
An interest in the charity sector, wildlife, animal welfare, or environmental causes.

Desirable

Experience researching and writing grant or funding applications.
Previous experience in a fundraising, development, or grant-focused role.
Experience using fundraising databases or CRM systems
Understanding of impact measurement and reporting in the charity sector.
Experience using Mac computers

You’ll be approachable, professional, and able to adapt your communication style to different audiences, from funders and partners to colleagues and supporters.

You’ll be naturally curious, well-organised, and motivated to learn, with a proactive attitude and a willingness to take initiative. We don’t expect you to have done this role before, what matters most is your ability to communicate clearly, think critically, and show enthusiasm for our work.
