Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and assisting with food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen eye for cleanliness and organisation. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within the hospitality industry.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support chefs and kitchen staff
Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to maintain hygiene standards
Support with organising stock and ingredients, ensuring storage areas are tidy and well-stocked
Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures to uphold cleanliness standards
Assist in setting up workstations for meal service and clearing down after service periods
Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and other kitchen areas throughout shifts
Support the team during busy periods by providing general assistance as needed to ensure efficient operations

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is beneficial
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including early mornings or evenings if necessary
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting and cleaning
A positive attitude towards teamwork and customer service excellence
