Health & Safety Manager
Valley Provincial & Playcubed Full-time | Site-based with strong operational presence
Are you a hands-on Health & Safety leader who thrives in fast-paced, outdoor, construction and maintenance environments? Do you want real influence, visible impact, and the chance to shape a safety culture that genuinely puts people first? If so, this role is for you.
We’re looking for a proactive, confident, and highly engaged Health & Safety Manager to lead the H&S function across Valley Provincial and Playcubed. This is not a desk-based compliance role — it’s a visible, operational position where you’ll be out on sites, coaching teams, challenging unsafe behaviours, and driving continuous improvement every day.
You’ll be the champion of our Safety by Nature culture, ensuring safety is embedded into how we plan, communicate, deliver, and improve across all projects and maintenance activities.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the Health & Safety function across both businesses, setting the tone for a positive, high-performing safety culture.
- Driving continuous improvement in behaviours, standards, systems, and operational safety practices.
- Acting as the Appointed Person (AP) for lifting operations, reviewing and approving lift plans and methodologies.
- Owning and developing H&S policies, procedures, RAMS, safe systems of work, and compliance frameworks.
- Carrying out regular site inspections, audits, and observations — identifying risks and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences, including RIDDOR reporting.
- Coaching managers, supervisors, operatives, and subcontractors to build competence and ownership of safety responsibilities.
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, campaigns, and awareness initiatives.
- Reporting meaningful H&S KPIs, trends, and insights to leadership to support operational planning and risk management.
What you’ll bring
- Strong operational H&S experience in construction, landscaping, civils, or similar environments.
- Confidence to challenge, influence, and coach at all levels — from directors to site operatives.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to translate safety requirements into real-world behaviours.
- Experience conducting investigations, audits, inspections, and developing safe systems of work.
- A passion for building a culture where safety is second nature, not a tick-box exercise.
What success looks like
- Reduced incidents and improved near-miss reporting.
- Strong audit and inspection scores across all sites.
- Clear, timely close-out of corrective actions.
- High levels of engagement and ownership from managers and site teams.
- Consistent compliance with lifting operations, RAMS, and statutory requirements.
If you want a role where you can make a genuine difference, shape culture, and be a visible leader across two growing businesses, we’d love to hear from you.
