- Deliver a broad, inclusive, and well-differentiated Computer Science curriculum across KS3, GCSE, and A Level
- Bring genuine enthusiasm for the subject, generating and sustaining high levels of motivation and achievement in all students
- Employ engaging and innovative approaches that promote high-quality teaching and learning
- Support students in developing computational thinking, programming skills, and problem-solving abilities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain consistency and excellence across the department
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral responsibilities and co-curricular activities
- Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance and conduct.
- Developing positive and courteous relations with students, parent and colleagues.
- Ensure that schemes of work are follow, reviewed and modified to enable the maintenance and development of high standards are teaching and learning.
- Keep up to date with developments in Computer Science and education in general to ensure that best practice is adopted within the department.
- Monitor students’ work to ensure high standards are maintained ad identify any specific learning needs.
- Ensure that individual pupil progress is regularly assessed, recorded and used to inform future teaching.
- Feeding back to students and parents on progress, giving clear guidance for improvement, in accordance to the school’s procedures.
- Promote Computer Science within the school to encourage students’ interest.
To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Department or Headteacher.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who:
- Have strong programming skills (e.g. Python, Java, or similar) and the confidence to teach these at GCSE and A Level
- Possess secure and up-to-date subject knowledge in Computer Science curriculum
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for the discipline and the ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities
- Are committed to inclusive teaching practices and supporting a diverse range of learners
- Industry experience in software or project development would be an advantage, though this is not essential - we welcome applications from candidates who bring strong subject knowledge and a passion for the discipline
- Have experience of, or a genuine interest in, leading enrichment activities such as coding clubs or competitions
