Plaslant Ltd have been producing multi-impression precision injection mould tools for the plastics industry for over 70 years, and are looking for an experienced Toolmaker with Surface/Cylindrical Grinder experience to support continued business growth.

Role responsibilities
→ Use of lathes
→ Use of surface and cylindrical grinders
→ Manufacture and fitting of new injection mould tools
→ Modification & repair of Injection Moulds and Blow Mould Tools
→ Experience in general toolmaking, milling, grinding and fitting
→ Assist the Production Team in troubleshooting tooling and moulding faults
→ Ensure that the Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to throughout

The Role
You’ll be responsible for general toolmaking duties, cylindrical and surface grinding precision mould parts, fitting and repairing precision mould parts.
Attention to detail, consistency, and a methodical approach are essential.
What You’ll Be Doing
→ Modifying and repairing plastic injection and blow mould tools
→ Surface and Cylindrical grinding precision mould parts
→ Producing high-precision components to tight tolerances
→ Reading engineering drawings and working accurately to specification
→ Carrying out in-process inspection using precision measuring tools
→ Supporting improvements in setups, tooling, and machining processes
→ Working closely with colleagues to keep production running smoothly
→ Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working environment
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications/experience required
→ Experience in manufacturing precision engineering components for mould tools.
→ Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
→ Ability to work to tight tolerances and high standards of quality, and completing tasks on time
→ Skilled in tool modifications, repairs, and refurbishments
→ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
→ Proficient in the use of all toolroom machinery and equipment
→ Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
