Overtime opportunities available
Looking for a role where you can take ownership, make decisions, and directly influence production performance?
At CutMy.co.uk, we're on a mission to make DIY simple. As one of the UK's leading online cut-to-size material suppliers, we're growing rapidly and looking for a Production Planner / Machinist to join our Twilight Shift team.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both planning and hands-on production. You'll be responsible for coordinating workflow across the shift, ensuring jobs are prioritised correctly, resources are used efficiently, and production targets are achieved. At the same time, you'll remain closely involved in operations by supporting machine operation and material movement across the factory.
If you're organised, proactive, and enjoy solving problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
Production Planning & Coordination
- Creating and managing the production schedule for the Twilight Shift
- Prioritising jobs to ensure customer deadlines are met
- Balancing workload across machinery to maximise productivity and minimise downtime
- Monitoring live production and adjusting plans to address changing priorities
- Working closely with the Day Shift Production Planner to ensure effective handovers and continuity
- Identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to improve workflow
Production & Machine Operation
- Operating CNC machinery, beam saws, laser cutters, edgebanders, and other production equipment
- Using a forklift to move materials and ensure jobs are production-ready
- Supporting the team with hands-on production activities where required
- Responding to equipment issues, material shortages, or operational challenges
- Maintaining quality standards and ensuring work is completed accurately first time
What we're looking for
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing coordination, or a similar role
- Experience operating CNC machinery, beam saws, laser cutters, edgebanders, or comparable equipment
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions when priorities change
- A practical understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of results
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across shifts
Desirable skills
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
- CNC programming knowledge
- Machine maintenance or troubleshooting experience
- Forklift licence or previous forklift experience
Why join CutMy?
At CutMy, we live by our CARE values:
Communication – We keep each other informed and work together effectively.
Action – We take ownership and get things done.
Respect – We treat colleagues, customers, and suppliers fairly and professionally.
Empowerment – We trust our people to make decisions and contribute ideas.
This is a role where you'll have genuine influence over production performance, not simply follow a plan created by someone else. You'll be trusted to make decisions, solve problems, and help shape how work flows through the factory each evening.
As we continue to grow, there will be opportunities for the right person to develop their skills and take on greater responsibility within the operation.
