Company/Position Overview

J G Pears (Newark) Ltd is a rendering company that takes animal by-products and turns it into sustainable high-quality products like bio-fuels and pet food ingredients.

This position is based at Low Marnham, NG23 6SP. We are seeking an experienced HGV, fully skilled Mechanic to join the team at JG Pears, Newark Ltd. The role offers a varied workload, working on well-maintained vehicles including leading brands such as Scania, Volvo and DAF. You will be operating within a well maintained, up-to-date workshop, providing the chance to work on a variety of tasks and develop your skills.

Roles Available/ Shifts:

Days/Afters - 2x Roles

40 hour working week (average)
Rotating shifts: 6:00am to 2:00pm, 2:00pm to 10:00pm
Pay rate: £24.00 per hour

Nights - 2x Roles

40 hour working week (average)
Night shift: Monday to Friday, 10:00pm to 6:00am
Pay rate: £27.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers.
Conduct thorough safety inspections and MOT preparation to ensure full DVSA compliance.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on trucks and trailers.
Complete all work efficiently and to a high standard, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Work safely and effectively within a busy workshop environment.

Essential Requirements

Fully qualified HGV Technician with a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers in a commercial vehicle workshop.
Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and compliance standards.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Please note: This is a fully skilled HGV Technician role. Applicants must be qualified and experienced in the maintenance and repair of HGV trucks and trailers. Candidates with only car/light vehicle experience, or those without relevant HGV qualifications and experience, will not be suitable for this position.

Due to location own transport is essential.
