AmicusLaw Solicitors is a friendly Dorset, Somerset and Devon-based Law Firm. We are an experienced, specialist team of tenacious, yet friendly lawyers. Passionate about representing our clients’ interests, with offices in Bridgwater, Minehead, Wellington, Yeovil, Martock, Exeter, Taunton ,Ilminster, Weymouth and Tiverton.
We are looking for an additional member to our Private Client team to fill the role of Legal Assistant in our Taunton office. The successful candidate will provide vital support to our legal team specialising in private client matters, ensuring smooth administrative operations and effective communication. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and a passion for legal support services.
Duties
- Draft and prepare legal documents, correspondence, and reports with accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform audio typing of legal documents, ensuring high-quality transcription aligned with the original recordings.
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and properly organised.
- Utilise Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook to prepare presentations, spreadsheets, and manage emails.
- Liaise effectively with clients, solicitors, and external agencies via phone and email to facilitate case progression.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates while maintaining an organised calendar.
- Assist with general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
- Support the legal team in preparing for court hearings or client meetings by organising relevant documentation.
Requirements
- Proven administrative experience within a legal environment or similar professional setting.
- Strong audio typing skills with high accuracy and speed.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—to liaise confidently with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
- Good IT skills with the ability to adapt to new software or systems as required.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of work to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.

Pay: £21,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
