Kitchen Porter

Department: Kitchen

Reports To: Head Chef / Sous Chef

Location: Hintlesham Hall Hotel, Suffolk

Job Purpose

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Porter to join our award-winning kitchen team at Hintlesham Hall.

This is a vital role within the kitchen. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organisation and hygiene standards while supporting the chefs and wider kitchen team. The successful candidate will take pride in their work, have a positive attitude and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness of all kitchen areas at all times
Wash and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, kitchen equipment and utensils
Ensure pot wash areas remain organised and hygienic
Assist with deliveries and stock storage
Remove waste and recycling in accordance with company procedures
Support chefs with basic food preparation when required
Assist with cleaning schedules and deep cleaning tasks
Follow all food safety, health and safety and COSHH procedures
Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly
Work effectively as part of the kitchen team

Standards and Expectations

Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance
Arrive on time and ready for work
Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Show attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean working environment
Support colleagues during busy service periods
Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen culture

Skills and Experience

Essential

Strong work ethic and reliability
Ability to work as part of a team
Good communication skills
Ability to work under pressure

Desirable

Previous experience in a kitchen porter or hospitality role
Basic understanding of food hygiene practices

Working Hours

Full-time and part-time positions available
Includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays
Competitive hourly rate based on experience
