Freelance Machinist
Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial sewing machines to construct high-quality luxury bespoke, Made-to-measure and ready to wear shirts and nightwear to Budd Shirtmakers' exceptional standards.
- Construct shirt components, including collars, cuffs, and plackets, with advanced sewing skills and outstanding precision
- When required, finish and press garments to the highest standards, ensuring every piece meets our exacting quality requirements.
- Work accurately to patterns and technical specifications, maintaining consistency across all garments.
- Inspect fabric for defects or imperfections before cutting and construction.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure an efficient and harmonious workflow.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work area.
Requirements:
- Advanced, demonstrable sewing skills with a proven track record of producing exceptional quality garments at a luxury level.
- Previous experience as a machinist in a high-end garment or shirtmaking environment is essential. Transferrable skills from those used to working with silk or fine fabrics or another area where precise machine sewing skills were used will be considered, as training will be provided.
- Proficient in using industrial sewing machines and related tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work to the highest levels of precision.
- Ability to read and interpret patterns, measurements, and technical specifications advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage workflow and keep track of materials.
