Role Overview:
We are looking for an energetic and highly capable Senior Electrical Production Engineer to help drive our unique technology across the line and into production. You’ll be central to ensuring our groundbreaking designs become real-world systems — safely, reliably, and to the highest standards. You will set the gold standard for how electrical production engineering is done and people will come to you for advice on what ‘good’ really looks like.
Responsibilities will include:
- Participate in electrical design reviews to provide design-for-manufacture input
- Create and champion standard operating procedures and work instructions for electrical manufacturing
- Assist with prototype and pre-production electrical assembly work
- Provide input for engineering change management (ECM) process
- Specify and source production equipment, tooling, jigs and fixtures
- Support production with day-to-day query resolution
- Lead and support continuous improvement activities in production
- Ensure full adherence to internationally recognised quality standards for electrical manufacturing, particularly within the marine industry
- Create and manage production layout plans to support efficient manufacturing
- Develop and support quality and business processes related to manufacturing
Qualifications and Experience:
- A strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems operation, with practical experience within production build or installation environments
- Familiarity with marine/defence (or other highly regulated sectors) electrical installations, including cable routing, enclosure layouts, test methodologies etc.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, cable schedules, and 3D models, alongside a practical understanding of how design decisions impact build feasibility
- Extensive hands-on electrical build experience, including harnesses, control panels, and field terminations, with familiarity in testing procedures like functional testing, continuity, and insulation resistance
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with design and manufacturing teams, providing feedback and support in real-time to resolve build issues
- Degree in Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering, or a minimum of 7 years' industry experience with strong hands-on electrical production knowledge.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems
- Working knowledge of applicable electrical standards (e.g., DEF STAN, Lloyd’s, IPC 620) and experience supporting inspections, quality checks, and build record maintenance.
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
