Swann Engineering Group are a leading manufacturer & supplier of telecommunications and media structures, with ambitious expansion plans over the next few years, and a UK-wide 5G network to build! To help us deliver this upcoming pipeline of work, we’re on the lookout for a Graduate Engineer to join our growing Technical team in Southampton. We'll give you exposure to specialist engineering projects including major refurbishments & new builds across a broad range of sectors, including telecommunications, rail, utilities and defence.
As a Graduate Engineer you will complete design and assessment work of telecom and other related structures. The role also offers the opportunity to participate in structural survey and inspection work on site. Training and support will be provided to develop qualifications and experience necessary to enable individuals to apply for Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution. The company has an approved ICE training scheme that will be available to the successful candidate. Reporting to a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for the following:
- Assisting with design and project management of outdoor media structures
- Completing assessments of telecom structures for new and revised loading conditions
- Undertaking design of steelwork strengthening solutions
- Undertaking foundation designs for telecoms, outdoor media and other related structures
- Completing structural surveys and inspections on site including climbing surveys of telecom structures
- Providing technical support to the company’s commercial building’s team as required
- Developing new and improved processes for the technical team
- Producing engineering drawings as required
- Developing budget costs and implementing minor works
- Attending client meetings as required
- Undertaking site supervision
- Assisting in the technical development of the company’s online telecoms products business
- Developing your engineering skills to enable application to a Professional Engineering Institution
- Attending client meetings as required
Qualifications and/or Experience Required:
- BEng (Hons) or MSC/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering or alternatively a HND / HNC in Civil Engineering
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Computer literate and conversant in the use of software packages such as Microsoft outlook, Excel and word
Full driving licence is preferable
