About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and capable Geo-Environmental Consultant to support the delivery of a wide range of geo-environmental and ground investigation projects.
The role will involve a balance of site-based and office-based work, including planning and supervising ground investigations, undertaking monitoring and sampling, managing project data, preparing reports and supporting the delivery of projects to agreed budget, programme and quality requirements.
You will work closely with senior colleagues, subcontractors, clients and other members of the project team, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality technical work while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage and supervise ground investigation works on sites of varying size and complexity.
- Prepare project-specific health and safety documentation, including risk assessments and method statements, taking account of relevant site-specific risks.
- Undertake site works independently, including logging, sampling, monitoring and subcontractor supervision.
- Carry out groundwater and ground gas monitoring using appropriate monitoring equipment.
- Produce clear, accurate and well-presented site records, exploratory hole logs, testing schedules, drawings and monitoring data.
- Manage project data and maintain accurate project records.
- Prepare factual reports and Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Studies and contribute to Phase 2 Geo-Environmental Interpretative Reports.
- Assist with the preparation of remediation method statements and verification-related documentation, where required.
- Support the delivery of projects in accordance with agreed budgets, timescales and quality standards.
- Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, project managers and internal technical teams.
- Raise project-specific purchase orders and assist with budget tracking for allocated tasks or projects.
- Ensure work is undertaken in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements, company procedures and technical standards.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Take responsibility for continued professional development relevant to the role.
- Contribute ideas and support wider business development and operational improvement activities where appropriate.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree, or equivalent relevant qualification/experience, in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Geo-Environmental Engineering or another relevant earth science, environmental or engineering discipline.
- At least 2 years relevant experience within geo-environmental consultancy, ground investigation, contaminated land, geotechnical or environmental assessment work.
- Experience supervising ground investigation works.
- Experience preparing factual reports and/or contributing to interpretative geo-environmental reports.
- A working understanding of health and safety requirements for site investigation works.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage project information accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
- A full UK driving licence.
Technical Skills:
- Ground investigation supervision.
- Soil and groundwater sampling.
- Ground gas and groundwater monitoring.
- Production of exploratory hole logs and site records.
- Use of logging software, such as HoleBASE or equivalent.
- Preparation of factual reports.
- Preparation of Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Studies.
- Preparation or contribution to Phase 2 Geo-Environmental Interpretative Reports.
- Basic drawing production and spatial data handling, ideally using QGIS.
- Management of laboratory testing schedules and project data.
- Health and safety documentation for site investigation works.
- Familiarity with commonly used UK contaminated land and ground investigation guidance.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience preparing or supporting remediation method statements.
- Experience with verification reporting or remediation supervision.
- Experience managing small projects or discrete packages of work.
- Experience liaising directly with clients, regulators, subcontractors and laboratories.
- Membership, or working towards membership, of a relevant professional body.
