Job Title: Senior Support Worker for Young People
Location: Leeds, UK
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract
Shift Pattern: 24 hour (sleep-in) shifts

Job Summary:
We are looking for a confident, attentive, and experienced Residential Support Worker to join our team and support children and young people within a Children’s Home. This role requires an individual who is calm under pressure, able to manage challenging situations, and confident in de-escalation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safety, stability, and well-being of young people throughout the night, remaining alert and responsive at all times. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

Responsibilities:

Provide high quality care and support to children and young people during night time hours, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
Remain awake, observant, and responsive throughout the shift, with the ability to identify and respond to risks or changes in behavior.
Manage and de-escalate challenging situations in a calm, professional, and consistent manner, following safeguarding procedures and behavior support plans.
Support young people who may experience distress, anxiety, or disrupted sleep, offering reassurance and appropriate intervention where required.
Carry out regular welfare checks in line with individual care plans and risk assessments.
Maintain the security of the home, including monitoring access, completing safety checks, and ensuring the environment remains safe throughout the night.
Complete household tasks where appropriate, such as cleaning, preparing for the following day, and maintaining a structured environment.
Maintain clear, accurate, and detailed records, including nightly logs, incident reports, and updates to care documentation.
Work collaboratively with the wider team, ensuring effective handovers and communication between day and night staff.

Requirements:

Fluent in spoken and written English.
Enhanced DBS certificate.
Confident, calm, and able to manage challenging situations.

Preferred:

NVQ Level 2 or above in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People).
Experience in residential childcare or similar support setting.
Full UK driving license.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: £150.00-£250.00 per day
