Full job description

Job Purpose

To assist in the day-to-day operation of the clubhouse bar and hospitality services, ensuring members, guests, visitors and event attendees receive a high standard of customer service. The Bar Supervisor will lead by example, support and supervise bar staff, maintain operational standards, and help deliver a welcoming and professional environment throughout the clubhouse.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

Deliver exceptional customer service to members, guests and visitors at all times.
Create a friendly, welcoming and professional atmosphere within the clubhouse.
Handle customer enquiries, requests and complaints in a positive and professional manner.
Promote food, beverage and club events to maximise sales and member engagement.

Bar Operations

Supervise the daily operation of the bar and lounge areas.
Ensure all drinks are prepared and served efficiently and in accordance with licensing regulations.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene throughout all bar areas.
Open and close the bar in accordance with club procedures.
Ensure tills are operated correctly and cash handling procedures are followed.

Staff Supervision

Support the recruitment, induction and training of bar staff.
Supervise and motivate team members during shifts.
Allocate duties and ensure staff are working efficiently.
Assist with staff rotas and holiday planning as required.
Promote a positive and supportive team culture.

Stock Control

Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
Assist with stock ordering, deliveries and stocktaking.
Ensure stock is rotated correctly and wastage is minimised.
Maintain accurate records of stock movements where required.

Health & Safety

Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety and licensing legislation.
Follow all club policies and procedures.
Report accidents, hazards and maintenance issues promptly.
Ensure a safe environment for staff, members and visitors.

Events & Functions

Assist with the delivery of golf days, competitions, weddings, celebrations and corporate events.
Support the setup and breakdown of function rooms and hospitality areas.
Ensure high service standards are maintained during busy events and peak trading periods.

Person Specification

Essential

Previous experience in a bar, hospitality or food and beverage environment.
Experience supervising or leading a team.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Flexible approach to working hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Personal Licence Holder or willingness to obtain one.

Desireable

Experience within a golf club, hotel, restaurant or hospitality venue.
Cellar management experience.
First Aid qualification.
Food Safety qualification.

Hours of Work

40 hours per week (including breaks)
Flexible working pattern including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Additional hours may be required during major events and peak periods.
