The Finance Team
The LNT finance function has grown considerably over the last 5 years, to a headcount of c.45 people across all disciplines and divisions.
The finance function is led by the Group Finance Director and is split into 3 main teams – construction, care opco and the group team.
As part of the people agenda, the LNT Finance Talent Academy was launched in 2023, providing a structured pathway & tailored experience for the right individuals to develop & progress their careers in the business.
LNT is also an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer.
The Role
This is a key role within the group, where the post holder will assist the Group Accountant in maintaining and preparing key financial information.
The role offers the opportunity to build a good understanding of basic accounting principles and controls and to be part of a fast-growing Yorkshire based entrepreneurial business.
Key responsibilities
The position will have responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Support the preparation and submission of monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns
- Maintain accurate and organised filing systems to support compliance requirements
- Prepare monthly management information for a number of SPV/development entities
- Process purchase and inter-company sales invoices in a timely and accurate manner
- Perform regular bank reconciliations
- Raise payments through the online banking system
- Prepare summaries of bank balances to support group cashflow projections
- Reconcile intercompany balances across group entities
- Prepare VAT returns
- Obtaining and reconciling supplier statements
- Assist in maintaining interest schedules to track the group’s debt
- Provide ad hoc support to the business’ key stakeholders as required
Requirements:
- Suitable for a new entry into accounting or an AAT trainee
- Strong desire to work with a dynamic and fast-growing business
- Demonstrates a proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn
- Personable and able to work as a team
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles appreciated but not required
- Comfortable in a collegiate, open and meritocratic environment
- Is prepared to be office based in Garforth (East Leeds) full time
