Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum depending on experience
Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday (flexibility required to meet business needs)

We're looking for a handson Hygiene Team Leader with experience in food manufacturing hygiene operations, who enjoys leading from the front, takes pride in maintaining exceptional hygiene standards, and is confident holding themselves and others accountable for food safety, cleanliness, and compliance.

This is a key role within our food manufacturing site, leading the hygiene function and working closely with Production, Technical and Engineering teams to maintain strong hygiene, food safety and compliance standards every day.

You'll play an important part in developing the hygiene team, maintaining audit readiness and helping create a culture where hygiene, food safety and safety are part of everyday behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the hygiene team, setting clear standards and expectations.
Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, periodic and deep clean programmes.
Carry out hygiene inspections and pre operational checks.
Own hygiene schedules, verification activities and completion records.
Manage hygiene chemicals, equipment and COSHH compliance.
Ensure hygiene activities are carried out safely and in line with site procedures and risk assessments.
Support food safety, quality and compliance standards across site.
Monitor hygiene performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Investigate hygiene issues, non conformances and audit findings.
Support internal, customer and third party audits.
Train and coach colleagues on hygiene, food safety and safe working practices.
Maintain accurate hygiene records and audit ready documentation.
Work closely with Production, Technical and Engineering teams to maintain standards and resolve issues.
Support environmental hygiene standards, housekeeping and waste management controls.
Drive continuous improvement in hygiene standards, compliance and team performance.

Hygiene issues are identified, investigated and resolved promptly.
Documentation is accurate, complete and up to date.
Positive working relationships are built across departments.
The hygiene team is engaged, capable and clear on expectations.
Continuous improvements are identified and implemented.
Hygiene contributes positively to food safety, quality and business performance.

About You

2 years experience in a Hygiene Team Leader, Hygiene Supervisor or senior hygiene role.
Food manufacturing experience essential.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and GMP standards is essential.
Understanding of COSHH requirements and safe chemical handling.
Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Hands-on and proactive approach.
Food Safety Level 2 or equivalent.
HACCP awareness desirable.
Experience within chilled or high care manufacturing desirable.

Working Environment

Fast paced food manufacturing environment.
Regular shop floor presence required.
PPE and hygiene standards must be followed at all times.
Some flexibility may be required to support operational needs.
