Hours: Full-Time
Do you have hands-on experience estimating HV/LV electrical utility connection projects?
Are you someone who takes genuine pride in producing accurate, complete proposals?
Are you looking for a hands-on role in a growing business, where your contribution will be valued?
If so, this could be the perfect role for the next step in your career.
EEMU Ltd (Energy, Engineering & Multi Utilities) is an established multi-utility and construction management services provider delivering utility connection and project management services across the UK. A NERS-registered ICP accredited up to and including 132kV, EEMU also holds GIRS and WIRS accreditations across gas and water networks, offering end-to-end, turnkey solutions. Underpinned by values of Safety, Reliability, Customer Focus, Integrity and Togetherness, the business has built a strong reputation as a trusted preferred partner in the UK energy industry.
With a growing team and an expanding project portfolio, EEMU is now investing in the specialist resource needed to take the next step.
About the Role
This is a new role, created due to business growth and the estimating function now needs its own dedicated resource. Up until now, proposals and pricing have been covered by other members of the team.
The Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate, well-structured cost estimates and tender submissions across EEMU's range of projects, with a primary focus on electrical connections including HV/LV work up to 132kV. You will work closely with Directors and Project Managers, pulling together proposals that are technically sound, commercially competitive and complete.
This isn’t a large corporate with clearly defined lanes. The team is hands-on; decisions get made quickly and people pitch in where needed. If you’re looking for that kind of environment, you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for multi-utility, HV/LV, civil, solar and BESS projects, with clear analysis of the works required and how they are to be delivered
- Reviewing drawings, grid offers, specifications and client requirements to develop accurate take-offs and pricing schedules
- Identifying project risks, value engineering opportunities and cost efficiencies
- Arranging and attending pre-tender site meetings with clients
- Working alongside the Project Manager to arrange site meetings with subcontractors to gather accurate quotations for subcontracted works
- Obtaining competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, analysing submissions and securing best value for the business and client
- Supporting contract administration throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintaining accurate records of estimates, tender submissions, supplier quotations and outcomes
Who We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as an estimator in electrical utilities, ICP/IDNO works, or a closely related energy sector discipline
- Strong working knowledge of HV/LV electrical connections and the pricing structures involved
- Experience estimating HV connections at 33kV or above
- Experience producing detailed bills of quantities and tender submissions
- Able to review and interpret technical drawings, grid offers and specifications
- Confident working with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and analyse quotations
- Commercially aware, you understand the relationship between cost, margin and winning work
- Clear communicator, whether in a pre-tender meeting, a subcontractor negotiation or an internal handover
- Happy to roll up yourselves and get stuck in. This is a hands-on business, where everyone works together to get the job done
Experience estimating 132kV connection projects would be a considerable advantage, though we recognise this is a rare skill set.
What Success Looks Like
- In the first 90 days, you have got to the heart of EEMU's projects, systems and ways of working, and are producing proposals independently to a standard Directors are confident signing off
- At 12 months, the estimating function runs smoothly without significant Director involvement. Proposals go out on time, pricing is accurate and defensible, and the business is winning work at the right margin
- You are trusted by the team, respected by Directors and subcontractors alike, and are a visible contributor to EEMU's continued growth
What EEMU Offers
- Competitive salary dependent on experience + Bonus
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Pension
- Flexible working hours - 40 hours per week with some flexibility on start and finish times
- A collaborative, expert team where your contribution will be seen and valued
- A growing business investing in the right people, with genuine long-term opportunities
If you’re an experienced estimator who takes pride in getting the numbers right and wants to be part of a growing, expert team, we’d love to hear from you.
