Responsibilities
As a Ward RGN, you will ensure the maintenance and management of the clinical ward to ensure the highest possible care is given. To ensure safety and patient care is paramount and to the highest quality.
You will manage and develop the ward functions to improve processes and efficiency.
Duties
- Delivery of up-to-date evidence-based care to patients and carers.Providing comprehensive patient care, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with daily activities.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in compliance with legal and organisational standards
- To monitor the practice and effectiveness of nursing actions, ensuring these are carried out with full regard for the safety of the patient and staff involved, including administering prescribed medications accurately and safely in accordance with medical instructions
- To ensure that delegation of tasks is performed equitably and effectively, in accordance with the nurse’s individual skills and development needs, and within clear parameters of responsibility
- To provide specialist nursing advice or nursing practice within the ward/ department by supporting doctors and other healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures
- To evaluate the effects of nursing actions and plan improvements for the benefit of the service
- To work with clear and established direction and purpose, inspire, motivate and empower ward/department team around the common goals to produce real improvements in clinical practice, quality and services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate patient care plans and to plan/ implement and monitor nursing care of individual patients
- To establish and maintain a high profile with patients, carers and all staff, involving, advising and using counselling skills as required.
- Educate patients and their families about health management, treatment plans, and post-discharge care
- Contribute to the reduction of healthcare acquired infection by ensuring a high standard of infection control practice in the light of research within current best practise, evidence and legislation
- To assist in the development of continuous quality initiatives to improve care of patients by adhering to clinical guidelines
- To provide support and guidance to junior staff members ensuring adherence to company policies
- Assist in emergency situations with prompt response and appropriate intervention
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Registered General Nurse in a clinical setting
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Demonstrated competence in medication administration and patient care procedures
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills to engage with patients, families, and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism.
- Willingness to maintain mandatory training in line with current guidelines.
