We are a premier, fast-paced independent service centre operating a high-volume, modern 9-ramp workshop. Our bays are always full, our reputation keeps us booked out weeks in advance. To keep our workshop floor operating at peak efficiency, we are looking for an experienced, sharp, and highly organized Workshop Foreman to lead our team of technicians.
The Role
This is not a role for a clipboard-holder. As our Workshop Foreman, you will be the heartbeat of the shop floor. You will balance your time between diagnosing complex faults, managing workflow across all 9 ramps, and mentoring our team of technicians and apprentices. You will work hand-in-hand with our Service Advisors to ensure vehicles are completed on time, safely, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Workflow Management: Oversee daily operations across 9 ramps, assigning the right jobs to the right technicians to maximize daily efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Motivate, manage, and mentor a team of mechanics, ensuring high morale and productivity.
- Quality Control: Conduct final quality checks and road tests to ensure zero-defect handovers to customers.
- Technical Support: Step in to assist with advanced diagnostics and complex mechanical/electrical issues when technicians hit a wall.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment, ensuring all health and safety regulations are strictly followed.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor team efficiency hours and identify areas to reduce vehicle downtime.
- Communication: Be the go-between from front of house to the workshop.
- Parts and Inventory: Check parts are correct and track workshop tools and supplies.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working as a Senior Technician, or Workshop Foreman in a busy garage environment.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. MOT tester would be an advantage.
- Leadership Skills: A natural leader who leads by example, stays calm under pressure, and knows how to command respect on the shop floor.
- Mindset: Commercially aware, organized, and driven by workshop efficiency.
- Communication: Clear speaking and writing skills to update managers, parts suppliers, and customers.
- Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence.

Pay: £38,500.00 per year
