The Mohair Centre is a farm-based Forest School with Ofsted-registered childcare facilities. We provide full daycare and sessional care for children aged 1-4 years, along with after-school clubs for children aged 4-11 and holiday playschemes during school breaks. Our mission is to foster a nurturing environment that promotes outdoor learning and holistic development.
Flexible Early Years Practitioner (able to work with all ages – 1-4 yrs)
Qualified Early Years Practitioner (experienced / unqualified considered)
LOCATION: Mohair Centre Nursery – (children aged 1-4yrs)
JOB TITLE: Ideally Qualified Early Years Practitioner L3 in Early Years (would consider L2 if the right candidate) or somebody with experience
RESPONSIBLE TO: Room Leader / Nursery Manager
JOB ROLE: To assist in various Rooms in the day to day running of the room. To work effectively as part of the farm-based nursery team, providing a stimulating and caring environment for children. To ensure the safety and well-being of the children. To have an understanding of the key worker role and have a good knowledge of how a Children's Learning Journey work. To support team members in providing a high standard of care and education.
HOURLY RATE: £13 - £13.70 (this hourly rate will vary depending on qualifications & experience)
Service Delivery
- To work a part of a team, in different Rooms
- To ensure that at all times the safety and wellbeing of the children is paramount
- To promote the philosophy of ‘learning through play and outdoors’.
- To help the children, to be independent, confident and enthusiastic learners, following the characteristics of effective learning, which are of the utmost importance at the
- Mohair Centre
To attend monthly staff & team meetings (paid).
- To participate in regular supervisions and annual appraisal sessions, setting targets, identifying training needs and reviewing performance
- To help ensure that the nursery meets safety and hygiene requirements and to report any issues to a senior member of staff
- To read, understand and comply with the Nursery’s Safeguarding, Health and Safety,
- Confidentiality Procedures and other Nursery Policies
- To keep up to date with developments in childcare through regular training as appropriate when required
- To maintain records and documentation that complies with statutory requirements, and to support others with completion of such documents
- To ensure that everyone is treated as individuals with respect and full consideration, in line with the Equal Opportunity Policy
- To complete domestic duties i.e. preparing snack/lunch or cleaning the nursery/equipmentPerson Specification

- Communicate effectively, face to face and using an online platform
- Keep accurate records when required
- Implement high health and safety standards.
- Ability to promote a stimulating, caring and safe environment for children.
- Able to establish positive relationships with children
- Enjoy working outside
- Experience with Babies required
- Education & Level 3 in Childcare as well as paediatric first aid (desirable) but not essential if candidate has relevant experience.
- Experience in a childcare (minimum 1 year)
- Able to demonstrate an inclusive approach.
- Personal Pro-active and self-motivated.
- Willingness to work flexibly.
- We have strict safeguarding policies and procedures in place. This post will be subject to DBS checks and reference requirements.
Hours – 30-40 hrs (8-3.30, all year)
