About Oaks Rise

Oaks Rise CIC is an Alternative Provision for autistic learners who have self-excluded from mainstream school due to high levels of anxiety, sensory, social and emotional needs. We provide small group learning and wellbeing support to learners aged from 9 to 16 years. We support re-engagement with education, rebuild self-esteem and enable academic progress through a neuro-affirming, low-demand and consent-based approach.

We place authentic relationships, trust and emotional safety at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to creating a genuinely neuro-inclusive environment for both learners and staff and welcome applications from neurodivergent individuals.

Purpose of Arts Advisor Role

Our Arts Advisor will lead and deliver the Arts Award provision. You will ideally be a trained advisor and assessor, whilst also planning and delivering non-assessed creative activities for our learners that are not engaging in Arts Award work.

Arts Award training can be provided for the right candidate.

Duties of Role

Support learners across the provision to identify, plan and complete Arts Award projects in line with award criteria, acting as a mentor and facilitator to help learners remain engaged.
Promote participation through a supportive and learner-centred approach.
Assess learner portfolios in line with frameworks and criteria and ensure evidence meets moderation requirements and quality standards.
Support learners to compile portfolios using written, visual, audio or mixed media evidence.
Track learner progress and liaise with learning facilitators and parents / carers regarding learner progress and projects.

Key Requirements

At least three years' experience working with children, including autistic children or young people.
Experience in, or string interest in arts education or creative practice.
Experience working with demand avoidant children including those with PDA.
Ability to support learner engagement, confidence, and personal development
Strong communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills, including strong IT skills (for portfolio management & Arts Award administration).
Flexible, proactive, and adaptable approach to working.
Understanding of & deep commitment to neuro-affirming, consent-based practices.

Desirable Attributes

Qualified Arts Award Advisor.
Experience working as a Learning Assistant or in a similar support role.
Experience supporting portfolio-based or assessed work.

Calm, friendly and approachable. Able to build positive and supportive relationships with a range of learners with different needs.
Creative, enthusiastic, and comfortable adapting plans in response to learner needs. Able to balance structured processes with flexible delivery.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in assessment and evidence management.
Well organised with good time management and reliability.
Good understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and inclusive practice.
Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Benefits

Pension & occupational sick pay scheme.
Term time working only, but with 52-week contract & pay.
Monday to Wednesday learner-facing & 0.5 days per week PPA time that can be taken flexibly and at home.
1 hour lunch break with no learners on site. 9.00am start but learner-facing from 9.30am. Start & end times can be flexible for the right candidate.
