We’re looking for a full-time Apprentice Banker Mason to join our team and start a hands-on career in natural stone. This is an excellent opportunity to learn a traditional heritage craft in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, working alongside experienced masons and developing the precision, care and craftsmanship needed for a long-term career in stonemasonry.
Key responsibilities
- Learn to work natural stone using both hand and power tools under supervision.
- Assist with measuring, marking out, cutting, shaping and finishing stone components in line with drawings, templates and job requirements.
- Support the preparation of standard stonemasonry components, moulds and templates for production.
- Handle, move and store stone, materials and tools safely around the workshop and yard.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area and follow all health and safety procedures.
- Learn how to read drawings, specifications and job information to understand what is required.
- Take part in apprenticeship training, complete coursework, and build practical skills through day-to-day workshop experience.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- A genuine interest in stonemasonry, construction, heritage craft or practical workshop work.
- Willingness to learn, take instruction and develop new technical skills.
- Good attention to detail and pride in producing careful, accurate work.
- A practical, reliable and positive attitude.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow safe working practices.
- English and Maths GCSE to minimum grade 4 (grade C).
Desirable
- Any previous experience with practical or craft-based work.
