BTEC Consultants (Multiple Subjects - Flexible Consultancy Role)

Location - Remote working with occasional in person school visits

Working Pattern: Flexible, Part Time - Remote Working

One hour per week or equivalent for 40 weeks

Salary: £2,000 per annum

Responsible to: Head of Curriculum Content

We are The Complete Works (TCW) a registered charity and independent alternative provision school that delivers bespoke, nurturing education to young people across London who thrive outside of a mainstream setting. Covering Key Stages 1 through 5, we specialise in a bespoke approach to learning, blending academic studies with creative and vocational subjects. Education is delivered through a flexible combination of Learning Hubs, small group collaboration and one to one lessons taught in local communities or students' homes. With a diverse curriculum that enables students to sit for GCSEs, BTECs and other qualifications, we firmly place creativity, wellbeing support and tailored learning at the core of our mission, helping students rediscover their aspirations in a safe and supportive community.

Following our Outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2025, TCW is further developing its vocational and project based curriculum offer across all schools in East and South London.

We are seeking experienced BTEC and vocational subject specialists to act as Consultants across a range of disciplines, including:

Animal Care, Hair & Beauty, Business, Digital Media, Cooking/Hospitality, Construction and Music.

These are flexible consultancy roles supporting the design, quality and assessment of vocational learning delivered through immersive, real world projects and experience days.

At TCW, BTEC learning is structured around meaningful culminating events such as showcases, exhibitions and enterprise projects, allowing students to demonstrate skills in authentic contexts.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting development of vocational schemes of work
Advising on curriculum design and delivery approaches
Supporting alignment with BTEC assessment criteria
Acting as internal verifier for qualifications
Moderating student work and assessment evidence
Supporting enrichment opportunities and industry links
Providing guidance and feedback to teaching staff
Attending occasional curriculum meetings

About you:

You will be a current teacher working in a school or college or retired with strong subject expertise and/or vocational industry experience, alongside an understanding of education or training environments.

You will be confident in supporting teachers, reviewing coursework and contributing to curriculum quality.

Experience with BTEC qualifications is highly desirable, along with familiarity working in SEND or alternative education contexts.

These roles offer flexible, remote working with the opportunity to directly influence meaningful vocational education for young people.

This is a consultancy position for approximately 40 hours per year. Spread over 39 weeks + the 1 week leading up to the start of the academic year. This role is flexible in its delivery working hours. Most of the duties can be delivered remotely or in person as preferred by the consultant.

Requirements:

Legal right to work in the UK - we unfortunately cannot offer visa sponsorship

Enhanced DBS Certificate and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).

Two professional reference checks.

Experience working with young people, ideally with SEN or SEMH

Degree educated

Training:

One off induction day – 9.00am – 3.45pm

Five Tuesday afternoon induction training sessions- 4.30 – 6.00pm

Ongoing professional development on Thursday afternoons – 4.30 – 6.00pm

You will be teaching and training simultaneously.
