Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Bricklayer Apprentice to join our construction team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in masonry and related trades, providing a valuable pathway into the building industry. The successful candidate will assist skilled tradespeople in various bricklaying and masonry tasks, gaining practical skills and knowledge in a dynamic environment. Duties
- Assist with laying bricks, blocks, and stones under supervision, ensuring accurate placement according to specifications.
- Prepare work areas by mixing mortar and setting up scaffolding or other necessary equipment.
- Use hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and chisels to cut and shape bricks or stones as required.
- Operate power tools safely for cutting, grinding, or drilling masonry materials.
- Support the team with basic carpentry tasks related to formwork or temporary structures.
- Assist with site preparation, including organising materials and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
Requirements
- Basic familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and masonry techniques is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is crucial.
- Must be a driver as the role will require travel to site daily.
- Ideal candidate will hold, Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE 4 and above in Maths and English. This is not mandatory, applicants without these exemptions may have to complete Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship.
- Interest in bricklaying, masonry, carpentry, roofing, welding, or related trades preferred.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to perform manual tasks throughout the day.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
- No prior experience necessary; training will be provided on-site by experienced professionals.
Pay: From £8.00 per hour
