Job summary

We are currently recruiting for a Content Executive to work on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home, Monday to Friday.

This 12‑month, fixed‑term contract will focus specifically on improving website accessibility and will provide dedicated resource to help deliver the digital elements of our communications strategy. The role will work closely with the wider team to inspire, support and deliver high‑quality digital content across a broad range of channels, ensuring we effectively engage all AHDB audiences.

You will also be responsible for the ongoing optimisation of content for search engines, as well as reporting on content performance in collaboration with the social media and marketing communications teams.

We are looking for someone with significant experience in copyediting and copywriting for digital channels, alongside a strong understanding of how modern audiences consume digital content. Experience in creating and optimising content to drive organic search traffic is essential, as are strong CMS skills.

Youll also use strong organisation and project management skills to plan and deliver digital work, providing clear updates on progress, risks and next steps.

We are the independent, impartial public body that unlocks success in British agriculture. Funded by a levy from over 100,000 British producers in the beef, lamb, pork, dairy and cereals sectors, we support and champion farmers, growers and processors, often where no one else can or will.

We share the expert, evidence-based research and reports that inform on-farm decision-making. We promote British produce to the UK public through domestic marketing campaigns, and we identify and open new global export opportunities to help farm businesses grow.

Job description

Use excellent editing and copywriting skills, considering accessibility for users, to create digital content that is optimised for search, encourages engagement and improves the user experience
Update corporate websites using a CMS
Support identification and remediation of website accessibility issues across AHDB websites, working from audit findings, user feedback and internal checks
Log, track and manage accessibility issues through to closure, maintaining clear documentation and evidence
Retest fixes and confirm issues are resolved; escalate where issues persist or require technical changes
Work with colleagues to prioritise fixes and meet agreed timelines
Offer advice and support to content authors and subject matter experts
Optimise content for search based on SEO research provided by commissioned agencies
Create and commission authoring guidance for our intranet, ensuring that all aspects of accessibility are covered
Represent the digital content offering in creative workshops for content authors, ensuring that accessibility is included
Support the Senior Digital Content and Publications Manager in formulating engagement strategies and measuring content performance, ensuring accessibility

Person specification

Significant experience in copyediting and copywriting for digital channels, along with a working knowledge of how modern audiences consume digital content
Experience in creating and optimising content to drive organic search traffic
Experience in using a CMS
Proven ability to take a creative brief and deliver great, audience-centric digital content
A good understanding of effective ways to create a broad range of digital content types
Experience in working with analytic tools to inform creative executions
Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail, with good interpersonal and communications skills
Familiarity with WCAG and/or accessibility testing tools (any level)
Understanding of HTML basics and common accessibility issues (helpful but not required)
