Position: Skills for Work & Life Co-ordinator (Employability)
Salary: £28,628 (Grade 8)
Hours: 36.25 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Lincoln - with expectation to travel to Linkage sites across southern Lincolnshire
Responsible to: Employability Manager

About the role

The Skills for Work & Life (SFWL) Co-Ordinator will lead the development and delivery of innovative employability and life-skills programmes within a specialist education environment. The role focuses on creating meaningful, real-world learning experiences, expanding employment opportunities, and supporting learners to transition into work and independent living.

A key aspect of the role is transforming traditional social care activity models into purposeful, work-related opportunities that lead to improved employment outcomes, increased independence, and greater inclusion within community and workplace settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programme Development and Delivery:

· Lead on the design and implementation of community-based project learning, establishing and sustaining offsite partnerships.

· Convert social care day activities into meaningful work placement-style activities, ensuring a clear focus on skill development and employability outcomes.

· Develop and deliver classroom-based workshops in collaboration with external employers.

· Design and implement Skills for Work & Life (SFWL) projects, including contribution to new initiatives.

· Work collaboratively across teams to embed employability and life skills within everyday learning.

Employer, Community and Workforce Engagement:

· Build and maintain effective partnerships with employers, community organisations, and stakeholders to create high-quality off-site work placements.

· Widen participation by increasing the number of individuals in social care accessing meaningful, community-based work opportunities.

· Support organisational aims of delivering more meaningful and sustained employment outcomes for learners and individuals accessing services.

· Work with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver Connect to Work pathways, including exit planning and referrals.

· Collaborate with Skills for Work & Life Leaders within the Choices directorate, to enhance project-based learning and training opportunities.

· Support income generation activities, including the development and delivery of supported internships, with focus on expanding provisions across more of our service and locations.

Embedding Employability:

· Coordinate Teacher Encounter opportunities, enabling staff to engage with employers and understand how curriculum areas apply in real-world contexts.

· Track and monitor employment-focused CPD for education staff to ensure consistent development of employability-focused practice.

· Support staff in shifting practice towards work-focused, outcome-driven activity models.

Learner Progression and Outcomes:

· Support learners to develop practical employability and life skills through structured, real-world experiences.

· Promote progression pathways into supported internships, employment, further education, or training.

· Contribute to the strategic aim of increasing access to meaningful, sustainable employment opportunities.

Quality Assurance, Compliance and Health & Safety:

· Participate in the management and review of learners engaged in placements or supported work (PWS), ensuring high-quality provision.

· Conduct and support health and safety assessments for all off-site activities and placements.

· Maintain clear documentation and tracking of learner participation, outcomes, and employer engagement.
