Job summary: As an RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality sailing instruction to young people and other participants in accordance with RYA standards. You will support the safe and effective operation of sailing activities, assist with the supervision and mentoring of instructors, help maintain training standards, and contribute to the upkeep of boats, equipment and facilities. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring all sailing activities are delivered safely, inclusively and in line with LES policies and procedures.

Working relationships: Children attending alternative provision setting,
management and staff, including students and volunteers.
Schools and registering authorities
Main duties include:
· Delivering sailing instruction in accordance with RYA training schemes and recognised best practice.· Supervising sailing sessions and supporting the safe delivery of on-water activities. Assisting with the planning, organisation and coordination of sailing courses and programmes. Supporting and mentoring Dinghy Instructors and Assistant Instructors where appropriate. Monitoring the quality of instruction and helping maintain RYA training standards. Ensuring all sailing activities are delivered in a safe, inclusive and enjoyable manner. Conducting safety briefings and risk assessments in accordance with organisational procedures. Carrying out regular inspections of boats, safety equipment and associated sailing kit. Assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the sailing fleet and training facilities. Maintaining accurate records of attendance, progress and incident reporting. Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and participation amongst students. Undertaking relevant continuing professional development, including First Aid, Safeguarding and RYA updates. Working within the framework of LES policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements. Supporting wider educational and enrichment activities where required.· Adapt sailing instruction to meet the individual needs of students, including those with special educational needs, disabilities, social, emotional and mental health needs.

· Valid First Aid certificate

· Full driving licence
· Strong communication and leadership skills
· Ability to supervise and support other instructors
· Understanding of safeguarding and SEND learners
· Ability to maintain safe learning environments
· Able to work as part of a team
· Sound judgement and common sense
· Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children
· Experience working within alternative provision or education settings
· Experience supporting young people with SEND
· Additional RYA qualifications

Pay: £24,420.00-£25,000.00 per year
