This position is based at Low Marnham, NG23 6SP. We are seeking an experienced HGV, fully skilled Mechanic to join the team at JG Pears, Newark Ltd. The role offers a varied workload, working on well-maintained vehicles including leading brands such as Scania, Volvo and DAF. You will be operating within a well maintained, up-to-date workshop, providing the chance to work on a variety of tasks and develop your skills.
Roles Available/ Shifts:
Days/Afters - 2x Roles
- 45 hour working week (average)
- Rotating shifts: 5:00am to 2:00pm, 2:00pm to 11:00pm
- Pay rate: £24.00 per hour
Nights - 2x Roles
- 40 hour working week (average)
- Night shift: Monday to Friday, 10:00pm to 6:00am
- Pay rate: £27.00 per hour

Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers.
- Conduct thorough safety inspections and MOT preparation to ensure full DVSA compliance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on trucks and trailers.
- Complete all work efficiently and to a high standard, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Work safely and effectively within a busy workshop environment.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified HGV Technician with a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers in a commercial vehicle workshop.
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and compliance standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Please note: This is a fully skilled HGV Technician role. Applicants must be qualified and experienced in the maintenance and repair of HGV trucks and trailers. Candidates with only car/light vehicle experience, or those without relevant HGV qualifications and experience, will not be suitable for this position.
Due to location own transport is essential.
