Full job description

Laird Estates Group is a well-established park home and residential property business with sites across England and Scotland. Founded over 30 years ago, we are at an exciting stage of growth — expanding our site portfolio, completing a strong sales pipeline, and building the team to take the business forward.

The Role

This is a newly created position. We are looking for a Finance Manager to take full ownership of our accounts function — keeping the day-to-day running cleanly while producing the financial reporting and insight that drives better decisions.

You will be the sole finance person in the business, working on-site in Newark-on-Trent and reporting directly to the Director. This is a genuine seat at the table, not a back-office function.

What You Will Do

Day-to-day finance:

Bookkeeping and transaction processing across all sites
Sales invoicing and purchase ledger management
Cash control and bank reconciliations
Quotes and job cost tracking

Compliance and reporting:

VAT returns — preparation and submission
Payroll processing for all staff
Year-end accounts preparation with external accountants
Monthly management accounts and reporting pack for the Director

Planning and control:

Rolling cash flow forecast — maintained and updated monthly
Annual budgeting process
Cost control on build and site projects

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

AAT Level 4 qualified or equivalent experience
Proven experience across the full finance function — bookkeeping through to management accounts
Strong working knowledge of Xero accounting software
VAT return and payroll experience
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
Comfortable being the sole finance person in a business

Desirable:

Experience in property, construction, or a site-based business
Experience producing management accounts and cash flow forecasts
Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA
