Full job description

Job title: Senior Quality Engineer
Reporting to: Quality Manager

Nitronica is a leading player in the contract electronics manufacturing sector. With a unique breadth of capabilities, including printed circuit board assembly, cable assembly and full product build, it has the winning combination of low cost coupled with assured build quality. This capability along with outstanding customer service and manufacturing flexibility has led to significant growth and an expanding global customer base in many diverse markets including Aerospace, Defence, Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Renewable Energy. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced individual to join our team.

Working Hours

Hinchtech Ltd T/A Nitronica is currently work a 4-day work week. The following shift patterns are available for this position:

Monday – Thursday 07:00 – 17:00
Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 17:30
Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 18:00

Key Responsibilities

Support the Quality Department in maintaining compliance with internationally recognised standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IECEx (ISO 80079), through the planning and execution of internal audits and coordination of external audits.
Develop, implement, and regularly review quality documentation, including Quality Standards, Quality Plans, Inspection Instructions, Process Routes, and Calibration Procedures, ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
Perform and support incoming inspection of raw materials, ensuring conformity to specifications and initiating corrective actions where required.
Manage supplier non-conformances, including coordinating rejection processes, defining disposition, and ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
Maintain and continuously improve First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) systems to ensure robust product validation and process capability.
Actively contribute to and lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Provide technical support and guidance to Quality Inspectors and Production personnel, promoting best practices and a culture of quality across the organisation.

Person Specification

Essential

Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline
Experience working in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment in the last 3 years
Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, particularly ISO 9001.
Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits.
Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and/or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Proficient in structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis).
Experience managing non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Desirable

Experience with ISO 14001 and/or IECEx (ISO 80079) standards.
Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
Experience working with supplier quality management and supplier audits.
Knowledge of product compliance requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH, PFAS).
Experience in calibration systems and measurement equipment control.
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and process development.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher preferred).
Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., oil & gas, aerospace, automotive).
Experience with Insight 123 MRP System
