Future Developments is an expanding UK chemical manufacturer supplying professional cleaning, automotive, industrial and hygiene products throughout the UK.
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of our production equipment, improve manufacturing efficiency, and lead the installation of new machinery as we continue to grow.
This is a varied role that combines mechanical engineering, fabrication, installation, maintenance and continuous improvement.
The Role
You will be responsible for ensuring our production facility operates efficiently whilst helping design and install new manufacturing processes and equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing new production machinery and manufacturing equipment
- Maintaining filling machines from 50ml to 1000L filling systems
- Installing and commissioning pumps, pipework and dosing systems
- Working on pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Fabricating brackets, guards, supports and production equipment
- Welding and modifying stainless steel equipment where required
- Installing conveyors and production lines
- Maintaining mixers, agitators and blending vessels
- Fault finding and repairing breakdowns quickly
- Preventative maintenance across the factory
- Assisting with factory expansion projects
- Improving manufacturing efficiency and reducing downtime
- Liaising with production management to prioritise engineering work
- Ensuring all machinery complies with health & safety legislation

Essential Skills
We are looking for someone who has experience with:
- Mechanical engineering
- Machinery installation
- Production maintenance
- Fabrication
- MIG/TIG welding
- Pneumatics
- Pumps and pipework
- Fault finding
- Preventative maintenance
- Reading engineering drawings
- Safe working practices
Electrical fault-finding experience would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
Desirable Experience
Experience within any of the following would be beneficial:
- Chemical manufacturing
- Food manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing

- PLC-controlled machinery
