Full job description

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Recycling Operative to join our team. The role involves a balanced mix of forklift duties and machine operation, ensuring efficient processing and management of recyclable materials. Experience with Teletrucks is highly desirable, as they constitute the majority of our forklift fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

Forklift Operations (50%):
Operate forklifts, primarily Teletrucks, to transport recyclable materials within the facility.
Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
Ensure proper storage and stacking of materials.
Perform daily equipment checks and routine maintenance on forklifts.
Machine Operations (50%):
Operate baling, shredding, and granulating machines to process recyclable materials.
Monitor machines for optimal performance and troubleshoot minor issues.
Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machines.
Ensure processed materials meet quality standards.
General Duties:
Adhere to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain accurate records of material handling and machine operations.
Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow and efficiency.
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Forklift Operator, with preference for Teletruck experience.
Experience in operating and maintaining baling, shredding, and granulating machines.
Knowledge of general Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and best practices.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on machinery.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Desirable Skills:

Teletruck certification or extensive experience.
Previous experience in a recycling or waste management environment.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
