Background
Merseyside Polonia works to improve the health, wellbeing, inclusion and civic participation of Liverpool's Polish and wider European communities. While many members of these communities have successfully settled in Liverpool, significant barriers remain in accessing health services, understanding available support, participating in local decision-making and maintaining positive health and wellbeing.
These challenges can be particularly significant for people experiencing deprivation, language barriers, social isolation, poor mental health, limited awareness of available services, and exposure to misinformation through social media and informal information networks.
Alongside supporting adults and older members of the community, Merseyside Polonia is committed to increasing engagement with younger Polish residents, helping them build stronger connections with local services, opportunities and community life.
The Community Champion programme, funded by Liverpool City Council and NHS partners, aims to improve health outcomes through trusted community engagement, health promotion, early intervention and partnership working. The programme focuses on improving vaccination uptake, mental health and wellbeing, cancer awareness and screening, and cardiovascular health.

The role will have a particular focus on developing innovative and engaging approaches that help reach younger adults and underrepresented members of the community, ensuring that health information, support services and opportunities are accessible, culturally appropriate and relevant.
