Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing and serving a variety of beverages and food items, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop barista skills and gain experience in the hospitality industry. The position is paid and suitable for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, ensuring quality standards are met
Assist customers with their orders in a courteous and professional manner
Handle food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, pastries, and other light snacks
Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including cleaning equipment, counters, and dining spaces
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times
Manage cash register operations accurately, including handling payments and giving change
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving any issues promptly

Requirements

Previous barista experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment
Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
Ability to manage time effectively to prioritise tasks during busy periods
Strong organisational skills to keep work areas tidy and stocked
Good communication skills with a friendly demeanour
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required
