We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to take a leading role in the coordination and delivery of maintenance and facilities services across our estate. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to step into a senior supervisory position, providing both hands-on oversight and administrative leadership within a dynamic environment.
Role Description
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, planning and delivery of both reactive and planned maintenance activities. Acting as a key link between the maintenance team, contractors and internal stakeholders, you will ensure that all works are carried out efficiently, safely and to a high standard.
This role combines technical knowledge with strong organisational and communication skills, with a particular emphasis on planning, system management, contractor coordination and maintaining service quality. You will play a critical role in ensuring the estate remains compliant, well maintained and responsive to operational needs.
Key Result Areas
You will supervise and coordinate a multi-skilled maintenance team and external contractors, ensuring that work is prioritised effectively and delivered in a proactive and customer-focused manner. A key aspect of the role will be planning workloads, allocating resources and ensuring that maintenance requests are managed efficiently through the Work Request system, with clear communication to all stakeholders.
You will oversee both reactive and planned mechanical and electrical maintenance, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard. You will support and develop the Planned Preventative Maintenance programme, ensuring statutory compliance and optimal performance of building systems and infrastructure.
Maintaining strong relationships with internal customers will be essential, ensuring their needs are understood and that services are delivered consistently and reliably. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise disruption.
The role includes upholding Health and Safety standards across all maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, safe systems of work and contractor requirements. You will support risk assessments, monitor contractor performance and ensure all statutory inspections and records are properly maintained.
You will coordinate contractors and suppliers on a day-to-day basis, ensuring works are carried out efficiently and deliver value for money, while maintaining quality standards. You will also contribute to cost control by monitoring expenditure, managing materials and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
In addition, you will support the monitoring of building performance, including energy usage, and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, reducing costs and enhancing service delivery. You will take a proactive approach to identifying maintenance issues and improvement opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities
You will contribute to the development of the maintenance team by supporting the creation of a skills matrix and identifying training and development needs, helping to build internal capability and reduce reliance on external contractors.
You will assist in overseeing the Building Management System to ensure environmental conditions are maintained efficiently. The role also includes supporting maintenance planning during shutdown periods, coordinating service contracts and assisting with inspections of the estate.
You will also play a role in overseeing critical systems including heating and cooling, fire safety systems, emergency lighting, lifts, CCTV, and other operational infrastructure.
About You
The successful candidate will be a skilled maintenance professional with a recognised qualification in a relevant trade such as electrical, mechanical or building services. You will have a minimum of three years’ experience supervising or managing people within a maintenance or facilities environment.
You will bring strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple workstreams effectively. A sound understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, health and safety requirements, and contractor management is essential.
You will have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a strong commitment to delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service. Experience of working with maintenance systems, planned maintenance programmes and compliance requirements will be highly advantageous.
What We Offer
This is an opportunity to take on a supervisory role with real responsibility and influence over how maintenance services are delivered.
