Full job description

Location: Llandeilo and Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, with the possibility of home based working where possible

Contract type: Permanent and full-time, but also open to part-time

Hours and schedule (full-time): 0930-1700 (7.5 hours a day, including 30 minute paid lunch), 5 days a week, Monday-Friday

Pay: Salary equivalent to one-third (33.3%) of fees generated and collected from the employee's billable work. Bonus equivalent to one-third (33.3%) of fees generated over target. Salary will be negotiated depending on experience and previous billing performance.

Despite being at the cutting edge of IT, we aspire to provide personable and easy to understand legal advice to a wide range of clients. Our client base is varied both geographically and in type. We only work for private paying clients.

Role purpose

To manage a varied caseload of civil and/or property-related disputes, including contentious probate and general litigation matters, providing clear legal and commercially focused advice. The role requires strong technical ability but equally an understanding of a wide range of clients.

Key responsibilities

Manage a diverse caseload of litigation matters, including property disputes, contentious probate, and general civil disputes
Provide clear and practical legal advice on and advocate in ADR and court proceedings
Draft pleadings, letters of claim, court applications, and settlement agreements
Conduct litigation from pre-action stage through to trial and settlement
Represent clients in court hearings and attend conferences where required albeit we are comfortable with Counsel being instructed on the majority of this work
Instruct and liaise with counsel, experts, and other third parties as necessary
Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with court rules and professional obligations
Manage deadlines, costs, and case progression effectively
Deliver high standards of client care

Minimum requirements

Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales), CILEX Lawyer, or Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx)
Minimum 2 years PQE preferred
Strong understanding of contentious work and court procedures
Excellent communication and client care skills
Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
Strong organisational and time management skills
