JOB SUMMARY
To oversee and provide a high standard of care in line with current best practices, deputise and take responsibility of the day to day running of the service in the absence of the Registered Manager whilst adhering to policies, procedures, agreed standards and legislative requirements. Provide leadership and supervise care functions and carers activities in line with the agreed ways of working, and actively participating within the assigned role in a safe, caring, effective and well led way whilst promoting the privacy, dignity, independence, choices, and rights of the service users and treating everyone with utmost respect.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support, mentor, and act as a role model for new and existing carers, leading them to deliver high-quality care that respects and promotes residents’ needs and values.
- Work collaboratively within the team to provide exceptional care for residents, adhering to the Statement of Purpose and company policies.
- Take a lead in a specialized area (e.g., Dementia, infection control, Health and Safety) and promote best practices.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion while safeguarding residents from abuse and discrimination.
- Accurately record all care, support, and interventions; respond promptly to emergencies and manage communication with healthcare professionals.
- Administer prescribed medications, maintain accurate records, and liaise with GPs, pharmacies, and next of kin.
- Encourage the physical and mental stimulation of service users through active participation in social activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of care documentation in line with company standards and participate in formal audits and reviews.
- Facilitate the orientation and induction of new carers, ensuring compliance with safety standards and documentation.
- Review and update individual care plans and risk assessments, ensuring they are person-centered and compliant with policies.
- Maintain effective communication with residents, colleagues, and management.
- Be a Team Player and resolve team conflicts, and support team members.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in all interactions with residents and their personal and financial affairs.
- Participate in mandatory training, appraisals, and supervisions, while pursuing opportunities for continuous professional development.
- Ensure proper handovers to the next senior care worker and write accurate daily reports on the care provided.
- Identify and report concerns about residents’ health and well-being and promote their dignity and privacy at all times.
- Be prepared to work weekends and holidays, and handle on-call responsibilities to ensure continuity of care.
- Must attend General / monthly meetings with senior carers, carers, and management to ensure continuity of care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Must have a Valid Visa to work in the United Kingdom without restriction
- Must have a Caregiving certificate that covers the 15-care standards, or a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate (CNA), or Any other Health & Social Care or Care Training Certificate
- Must have a valid DBS check Certificate
Other Desirable Certificates
- QCF level 2 desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 Certificate
- A Diploma in Health & Social Care
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a good Team player
- An enhanced DBS check is required for this position. You will need to register with Social Care Wales
- Skills to deliver the highest standards of holistic, individualised care that is right for each individual
- Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
- Commitment to complete the All-Wales Induction Framework for Health and Social Care
- A minimum of I year experience working in a care environment,
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable although not essential
- Good understanding of the process of ageing and the medical, health, emotional and well-being issues affecting older people and those with dementia.

- Candidates must have a valid DBS or be willing to register with the DBS updated Service.
