Full job description

We are looking for a motivated and organised Ward Clerk to join our Gynaecology team on Picton Ward in Glangwili Hospital. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the clinical team, by providing efficient administrative and clerical support, helping to ensure that patients receive timely and high quality care.

Picton Ward provides support to both inpatients and the assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients who can often be managed on the same day without needing hospital admission. This will be a patient facing role, as you will often be the first point of contact for patients and staff .

The successful applicant must demonstrate strong organisation, precise communication and excellent interpersonal skills. The team are looking for someone who is diligent, motivated, and detail-oriented, to assist with a variety of administrative duties. These include updating hospital systems with efficient handling of data, managing medical records, ensuring timely delivery of referrals and answering telephone calls.

Full training will be provided to support the successful applicant in their role.

Assist the staff in administrative duties relating to the management of the ward e.g. acting on telephone messages / photocopying and scanning case notes for patient transfers etc.

The candidate should have excellent Information technology skills, with a good telephone manner, capable of updating records, filing, dealing with incoming and outgoing post, arranging appointments and ambulance bookings.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
