Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant

Gomer Williams & Co is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Finance Assistant / Accounts Assistant to join our friendly and professional team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in finance, accounting, banking, or professional services who is looking to develop their career within a well-established law firm. Previous legal accounts experience is advantageous, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with strong financial administration or accounting experience from other sectors.
Working closely with our experienced Legal Cashiers and Finance team, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our client and office accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring client account transactions and notifying colleagues of incoming funds
- Processing and allocating receipts accurately to client ledgers
- Handling electronic payments, bank transfers, cheque payments, and card transactions
- Banking cheques and assisting with the movement of client funds
- Reviewing and processing financial documentation and completion packs
- Preparing invoices and supporting billing processes
- Managing account balances and assisting with ledger reconciliations
- Processing invoices and disbursements
- Supporting the transfer of funds between client and office accounts in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Assisting with general finance and accounts administration
About You
- Experience in an accounts, finance, banking, bookkeeping, or financial administration role
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and accounting software
- Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach
- Experience within a legal accounts environment or knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules would be beneficial, but is not essential as training will be provided
