Cylch Chwarae Pontarddulais is seeking a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Cylch Assistant to join our small, dedicated team. This is a rewarding role supporting children’s early development within a nurturing Welsh‑medium environment.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work 33.5 hours per week:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:15am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 8:15am – 12:00pm
You will work closely with the Cylch Manager and Deputy to support children’s learning, wellbeing and individual needs. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive difference in children’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in delivering specialised educational activities tailored to individual needs, under the guidance of the Cylch Manager and Deputy.
- Support children with behavioural, social or communication challenges using personalised strategies.
- Provide one‑to‑one support during classroom activities, routines and play.
- Build warm, positive relationships that encourage children’s confidence, participation and independence.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment that promotes learning and personal growth.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers and colleagues regarding children’s progress and needs.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in educational or care settings.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, child‑centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, dynamic team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs, including autism or other developmental differences.
- Knowledge of special education principles.
- Welsh language skills are beneficial.
- Welsh speaking is not essential, but a willingness to learn is warmly welcomed.
- Flexibility to adapt approaches based on individual needs and circumstances.
