Full job description

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity leave.

If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (Full time, 37.5 hours per week) Acquired adult communication and swallowing disorders.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties within our community service.

The successful applicant will be fully dysphagia trained and able to manage a caseload independently. You will join a dynamic, friendly and innovative team of therapists and technical instructors, delivering high quality SLT services to adults in North East Wales.

With our ‘one team’ approach, we have a range of opportunities for you to develop personally and professionally. This post will involve working primarily within our community service-working across care homes, community hospitals, outpatients and domiciliary settings.

There is a wide range of expertise and experience within the friendly and supportive SLT team. You will join a growing team of speech and language therapists and technical instructors and be supported by highly specialist band 7 SLTs. There is excellent peer support.

We have regular whole team meetings. Clinical supervision is actively encouraged and there are regular CPD events and training opportunities as you continue to develop and hone your clinical skills. Access to specialist training is available via internal and external courses, as well as mentoring, attendance at regional and national CEN meetings.

There are regular therapist-led and MDT clinics including Videofluoroscopy and FEES, Joint Voice Clinics, Parkinson's Clinics and MND MDT meetings. There will be opportunities to participate in service improvements and MDT initiatives are encouraged.

We welcome informal visits to meet our team and answer any questions you may have.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
