The successful candidate will be a highly organised, flexible individual with excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. In this role you will be responsible for leading and managing the clinical and operational services of the Trust pharmacy department and for providing senior leadership to the Trust on the medicines optimisation agenda , deputising for the Chief Pharmacist where necessary.

1) To be responsible for managing all aspects of the pharmaceutical supply and distribution service and clinical pharmacy service.
2) To be responsible for developing and managing the pharmacy staff associated with the supply, distribution and clinical service and ensure they receive supervision and appraisals in accordance with Trust policy.
3) To deputise for the Chief Pharmacist in the whole range of their duties in their absence
4) To lead on behalf of the Chief Pharmacist on specific delegated projects, both within the Trust and with external organisations.
5) To lead on developing Pharmacy service delivery models particularly related to transformation programs such as the community transformation or the urgent care programme.
6) To be responsible for overseeing the work of the department including departmental administration, to ensure the service operates to agreed national and local compliance standards including compliance with national regulators.
7) To be responsible for reviewing service performance and introducing service improvement initiatives.
8) To work with the Chief Pharmacist to identify and implement new business initiatives.
9) To be responsible for ensuring the operational pharmacy service operates within the pay and non-pay budget.
10) To be responsible for developing and reviewing all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with partner providers and to work closely with the contracts team in establishing and reviewing SLAs
11) To be responsible for arranging the on-call rota and be a member of the out-of-hours on-call team.
12) To be responsible for maintaining pharmacy staff awareness of the Trust and local emergency plans, and operational business contingency plans.
13) To be responsible for organizing and chairing regular pharmacy department staff meetings, ensuring key messages are shared in an accurate and timely manner
14) To lead on the recruitment of clinical and operational pharmacy staff.
15) To be responsible for attending and representing pharmacy at Trust wide business, quality and governance forums and other operational meetings where required.
16) To liaise with the Medicines Safety Officer, Pharmacist for Safety and Quality, keeping abreast of key safety concerns and incidents and supporting improvements where necessary.
17) To liaise with the Medicines Safety Officer, Pharmacist for Safety and Quality keeping abreast of key formulary and governance issues
18) To liaise with the I.T. and Procurement Manager with regard to departmental stock control and annual stock take facilitation.
19) To liaise with the I.T. and Procurement Manager in collating and monitoring Trust wide drug expenditure and other relevant statistics using the JAC pharmacy computer system
20) To support the Principal Pharmacist, Education, Training and Development in releasing staff to support the delivery of training.
21) To attend Trust and area wide meetings as required.
22) To be involved, when necessary, in facilitating Oracle non-drug ordering and invoicing
