As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Finance & Accounts Manager to take ownership of the agency's finance function and support the business through its next phase of expansion.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on position responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial operations.
You will oversee client invoicing, supplier payments, reconciliations, cash flow management, credit control, financial reporting and day-to-day accounting activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls across the business.
Previous experience managing the accounts function for a business with annual turnover exceeding £15 million is essential.
Previous hands-on experience using both NatWest Bankline and FreeAgent is also essential.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Manage the day-to-day finance function across the business
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for Directors
- Monitor cash flow and provide regular forecasting and reporting
- Complete bank and account reconciliations
- Assist with budgeting and financial planning
- Support VAT submissions and year-end accounting processes
Client Billing & Credit Control
- Manage all client invoicing and billing processes
- Ensure invoices are raised accurately and on time
- Monitor debtor balances and outstanding payments
- Chase overdue invoices and maintain strong collection performance
- Resolve client billing queries efficiently
Supplier & Media Owner Payments
- Process and manage supplier and media owner invoices
- Manage weekly and monthly payment runs
- Ensure suppliers are paid accurately and within agreed payment terms
- Manage payment approvals and transactions through NatWest Bankline
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier queries
Banking & Cash Flow
- Manage day-to-day banking activities using NatWest Bankline
- Monitor cash positions and provide regular reporting
- Support Directors with cash flow forecasting
- Ensure sufficient liquidity is maintained across the business
Systems & Controls
- Manage and maintain accounting records within FreeAgent
- Ensure financial processes and controls are adhered to
- Improve and streamline finance procedures where appropriate
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and records
Payroll & Administration
- Liaise with payroll providers to ensure accurate monthly payroll processing
- Support pension administration and statutory reporting requirements
- Assist with financial reporting and ad-hoc requests from Directors
RequirementsEssential
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Finance Manager, Accounts Manager or similar role
- Experience managing the accounts function for a business with annual turnover exceeding £20 million
- Experience working within a company employing 20+ staff
- Proven experience using NatWest Bankline
- Proven experience using FreeAgent accounting software
- Strong knowledge of management accounts, reconciliations, cash flow forecasting and financial controls
- Experience managing credit control and debtor collections
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
Desirable
- Experience within a media agency, advertising agency, marketing agency or similar environment
- AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
- Experience managing high-volume supplier payments and client billing
