We are the Alexa International EU Tech team based in London and we are a team of builders that work passionately to apply pioneering technologies to solve real-world challenges. This year we are expanding our charter into an exciting new area where our team is working on improving Alexa's personality in every country that we launch in, subtly adapting the customer experience in all countries and languages so that it is instantly familiar and even more locally relevant.
This role is also a unique opportunity to start to learn more about generative AI and work end-to-end on a range of different services, whilst building and launching new impactful Alexa products that make a genuine difference to our customer's lives. Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer II in the Alexa International EU Tech team within Alexa, you will drive the development and launch of innovative Alexa features that enhance customer experiences across multiple countries and languages. You will explore and apply the latest generative AI approaches to solve complex, real-world challenges while ensuring all aspects of technology and service readiness are addressed to scale for customer traffic.
You will actively participate in design reviews with peers and colleagues, evaluating technical feasibility and working in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality solutions. Your role involves close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams across multiple countries, bringing diverse perspectives together to create locally relevant customer experiences.
You will lead by example, acting as a role model to develop junior members of the team while contributing to the team's continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and mentorship.
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer II in the Alexa International EU Tech team, you will start your day with a scrum stand-up, discussing priorities with your peers. Throughout the day, you may participate in design reviews, document reviews, or project launch readiness meetings, as we dedicate time to collaboration and team growth. You could be involved in cross-team stand-ups with partner teams, reviewing operational dashboards, or contributing to a new product's launch.

Alexa International Tech is a global team with engineering teams in all 3 regions. The London-based EU team is a social team that works very closely together and supports one another. Whilst our vision is to ensure that our International customers find delight and utility in all Alexa devices and services, we understand the importance of working together on all deliverables and helping each other to get things done. We are a supportive team that is always looking for learning opportunities, always striving to improve and we do this by celebrating our successes and learning from our misses.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
