Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Director of Sport to lead our commercial strategy within the sporting sector, driving revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and long-term business development. This pivotal role will oversee sponsorship, partnership development, and revenue generation initiatives to enhance the organisation’s profile, impact, and commercial success within the sports industry.

Duties

Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies aligned with organisational objectives within the sports sector.
Lead negotiations for sponsorships, partnerships, and licensing agreements to maximise revenue opportunities.
Oversee and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including sponsors, broadcasters, governing bodies, and sporting organisations.
Collaborate with marketing and operational teams to ensure brand consistency and maximise commercial opportunities across all activities.
Analyse market trends, industry developments, and competitor activity to identify new business opportunities and innovative revenue streams.
Lead and manage a team of commercial managers and support staff, providing clear direction, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
Prepare detailed reports on commercial performance and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

Proven senior management experience within the sport sector and strategic leadership and commercial success.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Demonstrable experience in commercial development, stakeholder engagement, and partnership growth.
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with a track record of securing high-value sponsorships, partnerships, or commercial agreements.
Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Strong understanding of the sporting landscape, including market trends, stakeholder expectations, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on organisational goals and commercial outcomes.
