London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).

A vacancy has arisen for a proactive Vetting Administrator to join our Operational Resilience team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of a comprehensive DBS vetting programme, ensuring vetting processes are managed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with relevant legislation, data protection requirements and organisational policies.

Working closely with senior managers and stakeholders across the organisation, you will coordinate DBS vetting applications, maintain secure records and systems, provide administrative and reporting support, and act as a key point of contact for vetting-related enquiries. We are looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills, experience working with confidential information, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. In return, you'll join a professional and supportive team dedicated to protecting the organisation through effective vetting and security assurance processes.

The role is exposed to sensitive material, necessitating the holder of Security Clearance or the ability to secure it prior to commencing the role.

Assessment Overview

Stage 1

1. Use of security vetting systems to provide a service in the gathering, collection, evaluation and analysis of relevant information relating to individual security information.
2. Handling confidential and sensitive information within the guidelines of the data protection regulations.
3. Good written and oral communication skills in order to draft both routine and more complex correspondence, and to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
4. The ability to undertake research using a variety of sources and to provide written summaries of findings.
