Job Description
Team Structure & Working Pattern
· The ELSYM Operations & Quality Assurance function is a small, specialist team of three, requiring a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and close cross-functional collaboration. This IVS Operations Specialist role has been created to enhance the existing team's operational and quality assurance capabilities, address key skills gaps, and support a diverse range of systems, processes, and business activities.
· Standard working hours are 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday, with participation in a rotational on-call support schedule covering evenings and weekends. This provides continuous oversight of critical systems and enables timely response to incidents, ensuring stability and continuity within a 24/7 operational environment.
Role Purpose
This hybrid & unique role combines systems operations, and quality assurance within a high-volume, regulated transactional environment. The primary focus is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial and operational data processed through our Internal Verification Systems (IVS).
As this is a junior-level, multifaceted role offering broad exposure to a range of responsibilities and opportunities for professional development, prior experience with IVS is not required. We recognise that candidates are unlikely to have direct familiarity with the system, and comprehensive IVS-specific training will be provided as part of the role. This presents an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop their skills and gain experience in a specialised operational environment.
Key Responsibilities – Operations
Key responsibilities cover the end-to-end management and support of the IVS platform, including release and deployment activities, service management and reporting, incident and problem resolution, environment administration, and operational oversight to ensure the continued availability, stability, and integrity of the service.
· Monitor and support the UK Internal Verification Systems (IVS), including its infrastructure, integrations, networks, storage, hardware, software applications, and associated data and event processing activities.
· Participate in a rotating on-call rota to provide both office-hours and out-of-hours support via email and mobile communications.
· Help ensure ELSYM solutions are operated and governed on a 24/7/365 basis in accordance with internal standards and Allwyn's Operational Excellence requirements.
· Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of IVS operational processes and procedures, including system administration through the graphical user interface (GUI).
· Investigate, troubleshoot, and support the resolution of incidents, alerts, and operational issues affecting the IVS environment.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge resources.
· Support the delivery of agreed service levels, ensuring system availability targets of 99.5% or higher are consistently achieved.
· Take appropriate corrective action and follow established procedures to address operational anomalies, exceptions, and system irregularities.
· Build and expand knowledge of IVS functionality across development, testing, and production environments.
· Coordinate and execute software releases and deployments across development, test, and production environments in line with change management processes.
· Analyse, interpret, and validate IVS reports and outputs against source data from lottery gaming systems to ensure accuracy and integrity.
· Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing timely updates, technical information, and operational support as required.
· Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support business operations and evolving organisational requirements.
Key Responsibilities – Quality Assurance
A key aspect of this role is supporting quality assurance activities, reviewing financial reports and data analytics outputs, and helping to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of business-critical systems and processes. Responsibilities include supporting the planning and execution of structured internal and external testing activities, e.g. (including SIT, UAT, and regression testing). The role involves validating end-to-end data flows and identifying, investigating, and resolving defects affecting financial reporting, data quality, or system performance. The role contributes to the delivery of robust controls, high-quality reporting, and reliable solutions for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
· Testing & Quality Assurance
o Ensure adherence to testing standards, audit requirements, and internal control frameworks through structured verification and validation activities.
o Ensure systems are optimised, validated, and verified to meet business requirements.
o Understand and interpret financial transactions and account reconciliation principles (including two-column ledger accounting).
o Contribute to and maintain testing artefacts, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, defect reports, requirements traceability matrices, and test execution evidence, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout the testing lifecycle.
o Support client-led integration and acceptance testing (including, Balancing, Share-Calc, UAT) across all testing phases.
o Validate financial and transactional data across all test scenarios.
o Perform comprehensive internal validation of all deliverables prior to client release.
· Test Execution & Defect Management
o Execute regression testing to validate that system changes do not adversely impact existing functionality.
o Re-test defect fixes to confirm issues have been resolved and no unintended side effects have been introduced.
o Identify, document, and track defects, including impact assessment and prioritisation, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
o Record and communicate clear, detailed test results and evidence to support traceability and audit requirements.
o Collaborate with development and support teams to clarify issues, support defect triage, and drive resolution.
· Release, Deployments, Environments & Change Management
o Ensure stability and reliability of ELSYM environments across development, testing, and production, including monitoring performance and availability of applications and interfaces.
o Coordinate with internal and external release teams to deliver controlled deployments, system releases, upgrades, and maintenance activities across test and production environments.
o Support change enablement activities, ensuring changes are accurately assessed, approved, implemented, and compliant with internal controls and governance standards.
o Assist with the investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of environment, deployment, and application issues, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
o Collaborate with development, operations, and business teams to support successful delivery of system changes and enhancements.
o Assist with environment configuration, validation, and readiness activities for releases, and maintain associated documentation covering processes and operational procedures.
