We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Locum Phlebotomist to join our clinic network in London and the surrounding areas. Clinics opening hours are 7:30 AM – 15:00 PM.
You will deliver safe, high-quality venipuncture and capillary blood collection services for adults and, preferably, children aged 5 years and above, while ensuring a professional, friendly, and reassuring experience for every client.
The successful candidate will be responsible for running daily clinic operations independently, managing stock, processing bookings and payments, and supporting nearby clinics when required (mileage expenses paid).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for adults and, preferably, children aged 5 years and above.
- Ensure patients are treated with care, dignity, and professionalism to minimise distress and discomfort.
- Accurately label, store, and manage biological samples in accordance with test requirements and company procedures.
- Maintain and restock phlebotomy supplies, ensuring all materials are within expiry dates and stored appropriately.
- Carry out daily cleaning and maintenance duties in accordance with infection prevention and control policies.
- Safely dispose of clinical waste and sharps in line with internal protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately update client records and enter data into the relevant systems.
- Manage clinic bookings, process card payments, and communicate test-related information to clients.
- Support team managers with daily work allocation and client coordination.
- Provide training and support for new staff members when required.
- Work independently and take ownership of clinic operations and stock control.
- Identify service quality issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake any other relevant duties as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 months' full-time phlebotomy experience following completion of training/certification (please do not apply if less than 1 year of UK experience).
- Valid UK phlebotomy certification.
- Up-to-date immunisations, including Hepatitis B.
- DBS check dated within the last 3 years.
- Strong IT skills for booking management, payment processing, and data entry.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a clinic single-handedly.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and efficient under pressure.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a busy and fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
